Sandbar and Dolphin Cruises for Longboat Key Visitors

Staying on Longboat Key and looking for a boat day without booking a whole charter? Public cruises sell by the seat and put sandbar time, dolphin watching and a Sarasota Bay sunset on one shared tiki boat. The island’s beaches are known for being quiet. This is the social, on-the-water counterpart.

For prices, departure details and a month-by-month sunset chart, see our main Sarasota sunset cruise page.

Sarasota Bay, the deepest bay between Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor, runs along the island’s east side. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a towel, along with your own food and drinks.

Sandbar fun

Anchor out in the shallows to swim, wade and soak up the sun with other guests, then settle back in for the ride.

Dolphins in the bay

Keep watch for dolphins as you cruise. Sightings are common in Sarasota Bay, but they are never guaranteed.

Golden hour departures

Evening cruises are timed to the sunset, which shifts through the year. Check the departure time when you book.
